Game no. 3 - The Lost Statues of Knossos

When we moved to Greece for Erasmus, we were so sad there is no escape game in our island - Crete (It's not true anymore, you can play Lost Statues of Knossos now in Iraklio too), that we decided whenever we travel to the mainland or some other island, we will look for some game to play. When we went to Athens it was sure we are going to try Athens Clue, so this is how we did.

Basic facts:

  • location: Athens, Greece
  • escape game: Athens Clue
  • room: The Lost Statues of Knossos
This game is situated in a quite weird neighbouhood I would say, but the good part is that it is in a walking distance from all important sites a tourist probably wants to visit in Athens. It is a huge complex of rooms, you enter with the main door and look for someone who is going to take you to the room you are attending.

When you enter the room, everything is pretty clear. We always knew what to do and some tasks are just awesome. We were one of the first teams who tried this game, so there were some problems with one task, but the game master was well prepared for this situation and helped us with a picture she sent us. We were lucky we were attending a course of Greek History on Crete, because you need to know a little bit about Greek gods to succeed. :)

Facts of our game:
  • did we succeed: YES
  • our team: 4 people
  • our time: 45 minutes
  • best thing about the game: great communication with a game master
This game was awesome, we took there two friends who didn't play any game before. They were a little bit afraid of this experience, but they enjoyed it a lot and played several other games with us later.

Game no. 2 - The Alchemyst's Chamber

After the first game, we knew we need to play another game pretty soon, so we looked around Czech republic, what is near. We found there are some rooms in Prague, so we went straight there. Later we found out, that rooms in Prague are mostly made by Hungarian people, because room escape gaming is pretty popular in Hungary.

Several facts:

  • location: Prague, Czech Republic
  • escape game: MindMaze
  • room: The Alchemyst's Chamber

This game is situated in the celar of a house near city center, so it is very suitable for breaks in the sightseeing which people usually do in Prague. After you enter the house you have to go to down the stairs, what gives you a feeling that something strange is going to happen. But then a nice girl meets you and tells you all the rules and locks you in the room.

The room is made pretty precious. It contains a few items which you really don't get it how on the Earth that thing can work. The goal is to find the Philosopher's stone and, of course to escape! The room is well-advised and you never get bored during the time inside.

Communication with the game master is solved good, she helped us quite a lot in one moment, but then she decided to leave it to us and in the end, I think she was quite surprised we escaped in last minute.

Our gaming facts:

  • did we succeed: YES
  • our time: 59 minutes
  • our team: 4 players
  • best thing about the game: beautiful interior
We really enjoyed this game, escapecially all the magic items were amazing. We were thinking about some things for long time until we found them online.

Game no. 1 - The Wicklewood Heritage

Maybe you feel it the same, maybe not, but in our opinion, the first game is just the best. The experience is totally different when you don't know what is going to happen and then it happens somehow and you are totally amazed what did you just do. This is what happened to us in the Wicklewood Heritage.

Several facts:
  • location: Budapest, Hungary
  • escape game: Claustrophilia
  • room: The Wicklewood Heritage
In this game you get right into the story, which we really like. After you make a reservation, you get a confirmation email with the first task. It is actually an organization detail, but we considered it a task and we got pretty nervous about everything (if we even can find the right door).

After you find the right door (it's open), you do not have any contact with any human being. You just simply have to close the door and start playing, what is awesome, especially for first-time players. It gets you a little bit more confused and then you start.

The game itself is very original. It doesn't have any magic items purchased from escape game eshops, what makes it more authentic. All the tasks are clear and even if you don't know how to solve the problem you actually have, you always have something to do and you never get bored.

The communication with the game master is also solved well, we had about two or three little helps and everything went fine.

Our gaming facts:
  • did we succeed: NO
  • our team: 4 players
  • best thing about the game: atmosphere
This room is the main reason why we started to play escape games in every city we visited since that day, so you can imagine, how much we enjoyed it (even if we failed)!

We are starting!

Hello! This is our first post on our first blog about our truly love - room escape gaming!

It happened somehow, a year and half ago, that we went for a christmas trip to Budapest, Hungary. We had totally no idea what to do there, so we opened TripAdvisor (as we do always, because we are totally unable to plan anything at home) and saw it. It was something, we had no idea what, but everyone loved it and everyone said it's awesome. So we said ok, let's go, it's gonna be awesome. And we went for our first room escape game ever. And it was really totally awesome! And we fell in love. <3

Now, after 18 months, plenty of games played, we decided to start a blog about everything around escape games we love so much. We live in Brno, Czech republic, so we have the best information about games in central Europe, but we will try to visit as many games as possible on our summer trips and inform you about everything around. So stay tuned, we are starting!

We will share reviews of rooms we have visited (of course with no spoilers), reminders of new rooms opening in neighbourhood and all funny facts, videos, experience and everything connected to escape games somehow.

Of course if you want to share some of your experience with escape games you have visited, we are free to publish your reviews too (of course only if you played the game you are reviewing).
